Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island called West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar to its significance. It is often believed that it's an island to the to the west of Montreal, but it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine as well as West. The West Island is frequently referred to as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay in the city was brief. Brugel became a woman of a certain age in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become an actress, However, following a dramatic growth spurt her partners were no longer able to dance with her. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 feet 1 inch tall. When I grew out of my male dancers, I decided to quit. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was the result of a recommendation from her drama teacher. Her teacher advised her to audition to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the school's annual show. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned an Associate in Fine Arts degree in 2000. Brugel's career spans over twenty years, and she's been in over 60 productions that have screened on large screens as well as smaller screens. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member in Season 1 of the show and was only appeared on occasion.
